The Costa Blanca region of Spain is located in the Valencian Community which is located on the south-eastern coast of Spain, it enjoys the mediterranean coast and climate and has been a huge favourite with tourists and property buyers for many years now. The Costa Blanca region borders the provinces of Murcia and Albacete.
The Valencian Community is split into three regions, the Costa Blanca which covers from Denia in the north past Alicante down to Torrevieja, Valencia - which spreads from Oliva in the south to Sagunto in the north, and the last region - Castellón.
In total the population of the Valencian Community stands at roughly 5 million, but broken down:
- Castellón - 700,000 inhabitants
- Costa Blanca - 1,900,000 inhabitants
- Valencia - 2,400,000 inhabitants
The most popular of the regions is the Costa Blanca, for years ex-pats have been making the Costa Blanca their first or second home - even with property price rises over the years, families and couples have flocked here in their thousands for the search of a better life in Spain.
Now there has been some what of a fall in property prices within the Costa Blanca region and many bargains can be found on properties on the market as people either panic sell their properties or are forced to reduce their asking prices due to the flooded resale property market.
The new build / off plan property industry has suffered as a result but then again this is the time to buy a property within the region as you could end up saving thousands of euros on the property of your dreams. Off plan properties and new builds have taken a lot of bad press in the UK but for people looking for a huge saving on their Spanish property it is still a popular way of getting on the housing ladder in Spain.
